Before I start I want to say that I am someone who LOVES sushi and has had sushi all over the world including the 3 Michelin star Sukiyabashi Jiro. Of course, when reviewing sushi restaurants here in Seattle, I can’t necessarily have the same expectations as I would of a place like Jiro, but I still feel there’s a minimum set of standards that MUST be met and respected by all sushi restaurants regardless of the location.
The first thing I want to address is the quality and the freshness of the fish that I Love Sushi just didn’t have. We had two rounds of Omakase Nigiri and Omakase Sashimi. The fish had an old and somewhat wrinkled texture. You could tell that it has been sitting in the fridge for a few days. The other thing that I noticed right away was that the nigiri sushi was very narrow and small. Even smaller than sushi you would buy from places like Safeway.

The Sea Foie Gras with monkfish foie gras and sea scallop had a poop texture. Literally. There is nothing good that I can say about this dish. They should put a biohazard warning on the menu about this dish. If you don’t believe me, you can pay $7 and find out firsthand what poop tastes like.
The Copy Roll with salmon, flying fish roe, crab salad, scallop, and a sliced lemon on top was pretty good. The citrus really added brightness to the roll. The Caterpillar Roll had too much tempura on the shrimp. The Black Cod with miso was tender and had a flavorful sauce.
Summary: mediocre sushi, mediocre rolls, and one of the worst dishes we’ve ever eaten (re: Monkfish foie gras)
Recommendation: there’s better sushi elsewhere.
